say it ain't so...

Let's just make this as short as possible. I'm currently swapping emails with a guy from Pennsylvania. He has a Wrangler and wants a Cherokee. I've got a Cherokee and am interested in a Wrangler. Any questions?

i didn't hit a squirrel but...

It's 12:30AM and I just got home. I should have been home an hour ago and I even skipped the evening service tonight to make sure I got in at a "decent" time. Why am I so late? After leaving Andalusia I went to Crestview to get Audra and the kids from her parent's house. I've only been that way a couple of times so, you guessed it, I missed my turn. Since I wasn't familiar with that route I didn't know I missed it until about 15 miles down the road, which turns into 30 by the time you backtrack. Once I got back to the road I needed to take I realized why I missed it the first time. Aside from the sunset shining in my eyes, there was a truck for sale on the other side of the road that I was checking out as I drove by. Dang.

Why did I jump online when I got in at this crazy late hour? The internet wasn't working at church today and I needed to check my email, so I figured I'd try to appease Charlie while I was at it.

wow, that was fast

Sometimes it seems like we have to wait for quite a while on God, then other times things happen right away. Tonight, the latter was the case.

My hours at the marina have been cut way back because it's so slow now that school started back. Today I picked up the schedule for next week and I've been dropped down to 15 hours for next week so I knew I had to find something else, but I wasn't going to sweat it. Then tonight, because of a long string of events that includes a huge log floating out in the St. Joe Bay, I ended up with another boat to wash each week on the side. The guy asked me to name a price, I threw out $75, and he said that was great! I'm pretty excited because all I'll be doing is washing this 40 footer once a week which will take me about 2 hours, but I'll be making more than I would in a full day of work at the marina. Pretty stinkin' sweet.

Someday soon I need to type out all the things that God has done for us this summer and how they all inter-connect. It's really been an amazing summer.

time for the quarterly update

I haven't quit blogging, and I haven't quit checking all of yours, I just haven't had time to write anything lately. Not only that, but there really isn't a lot of exciting stuff going on at the moment. I work, go to school, and spend many hours on the road each week. But it's actually going ok, the drive I mean. It was killing us at first, but Audra and the kids are now staying home each weekend and that makes things go just fine for the kids.

I'm also getting a little more used to being back in church world. It's still not easy, and I think a lot of that has to do with where I'm serving at. South Alabama is still "The Land of the Youth Rally", as I like to call it. Each time I walk into my office I have a stack of mail on my desk and several pieces are pertaining to some youth rally/concert/revival/drama team/Xtreme Youth Explosion. They thrive on the stuff. Tonight one church is doing a 5th Quarter after the football game, but they've given it some kind of cheesy name and basically the whole thing will be a concert put on by their band and drama team, and then there will be some speaker. These kids must have heard the Gospel presented in some shape or form 50 times, but I'm curious what is being done to take them past that initial point of salvation?
