me and america

We had a pretty good birthday this year. Our family(Audra's parents and brother, my parents and sister) came this weekend for a Michael's birthday/Fourth of July get-together. Her parents brought their boat and we got to do some good skiing. It was so great to see my dad out there again, it's been years since they've skied. I was wondering if he would be rusty at all, but when he started backwards on his trick skis for his first pull of the day, I knew he hadn't lost his touch. By the end of the day he was talking about going home and restoring their ski boat for next summer. I was hoping this would get him interested in it again, and it appears to have done just that.

My brother wanted to come but couldn't get leave, but this is a good time to brag about him and let everyone know that he got promoted to captain on my birthday, that was a pretty good present.

We went downtown last night for the fireworks and stuff. I got a funnelcake, Audra got fresh squeezed lemonaid. We watched old couples dancing as The Drifters sang their hits such as My Girl and Under The Boardwalk. Someone gave me their deep fried Oreos, the fireworks were nice, and for the moment things were grand.

Then I had an incident take place that changed the tone of things, but thankfully didn't ruin it. Let it suffice to say I'll be getting FlowMasters much sooner than anticipated, the crossmember did it's job, and the slogan "Built Ford Tough" isn't just a slogan...thank God.
